Looking Forward To Summer

March 1st and the sun is shining. Still have lots of snow on the ground, making for nice lake levels at ice out. Can't wait until lake views like the one pictured again. It's only a matter of time!

Osprey Rescued

Here is a photo of the Osprey that we rescued a few years ago. The Osprey broke his wing while diving into the lake. We fished him out of the lake using the oar out of our boat. He was picked up and flown by airplane to Minneapolis to the raptor rescue center. He had a compound fracture in his radius and Ulna. They did surgery and inserted pins in the wing. He recovered but was unable to released back into the wild. We heard he is now used in education.

Vince Shute Bear Sanctuary.

Wondering how many of the Aspen Resort Blog followers have had a chance to visit the Vince Shute Bear Sanctuary. All the bears are wild bears and not caged. Between 15-50 bears can be seen on any given evening feeding while the volunteers wonder around amoungst the bears with feed pales. The Sancutuary is open Memorial day through Labor day and if your vacationing in the area, it is a must see. Become a fan of our Facebook page and post some of your own personal sanctuary photos if you've ever been there.
