After a wet and rainy Thursday the evening turned out beautiful. The crappies have been biting and they seem to be on the bigger size this year with some in the fish house 13"-14". Water temps have also been warming up and it looks close to the start of the bluegill bite. hope to see you at Aspen Resort soon!

5/26/13 Crappies

Scott Bernicky and his dad Jerry had a good day catching some nice slab crappies. The largest one in the basket was this 14 1/4 inch. That's going be a nice dinner.

New Boat 5/17/13

Finally got the new 16' Lund with the 4 stroke 25hp Mercury motor in the lake. Comes with electric start, power trim,  navigation lights, flat floor kit, and bilge pump.  Let the renting begin!

The last of the ice is putting up a fight, unfortunately right in front of the resort. Should be gone by dusk tonight. Will be starting installing the docks tomorrow AM, if the wind cooperates. 

The ice is leaving!

With today's warm temps and high winds the ice is really taking a beating.  The main lake is ice free and the remaining ice in our bay will be gone by morning. Let the fishing begin!

Temps near 60 today for a high and thunderstorms this afternoon. Tomorrow more thunderstorms and temps around 80. Goodby ice!

Here are the views from today out in front of the resort. As you can see we now have open water at the north side of the bay. The bay in Orr is now ice free and warmer weather is in our favor for the upcoming week.

Fishing Opener 2013

Welcome to the 2013 Minnesota Fishing Opener. Calling for a chance of snow today and temps in the 20's for lows tonight and tomorrow. Back up to upper 70's by Tuesday and still looking to be ice free by the 18th. Fingers crossed!

The official Minnesota fishing opener is tomorrow and as you can see Pelican is still locked in with ice. Todays high 64 with the low tonight 31.
